Gone, by Michael Grant

Hi, again!
I don't know why but I've been feeling like writing book reviews and as we don't have that many, who's gonna blame me for writing another?
So, a few years ago, maybe three or just two years ago, I asked my mum to get me these two books for Christmas as I thought I was going to love. Guess what? I was wrong.... These two books were probably the most weird books I've ever read, in a bad way...
The first one, Hunger, is about this town in California I think where, all of a sudden, everyone who's up to fifteen years old disappears. So there's this scene where they are at the classroom and the teacher suddenly vanishes. How crazy is that? And things start to get even more bizarre when the kids start to gain super powers. Cool, right? That's what I thought.
Sam is the main character and I honestly don't remember that much of him but I don't know why I couldn't relate myself with him. He has this weird super power that, as I remember it, consists in lighting up his hands or something. Like, he claps his hand and a light lights up. Just kidding. But seriously, he's like one of the most powerful kids in there and all he can do is that? What the hell?!
And there's Astrid who's Sam's girlfriend. First of all, who the hell is named Astrid? Astrid is a really odd name. And she's such a dead character, I mean, she doesn't have any energy and she always seems so sad... I think the only characters I liked were Dana or Lana, don't remember, Diana and Pete. Lana, for me, was the strongest character, Diana was really mess up but so smart and Pete was so strange that I actually ended up liking him.
Still in Gone, in the end there's this scene where Sam and his brother (whose name I cannot remember) are fighting and Sam has the chance to kill (his brother is one of the bad guys) and doesn't. Why doesn't Sam kill him? They have only met a few days before so they aren't friends or anything so why doesn't Sam kill him? Because he's his brother? Well, let me tell you something Sam, your brother is freaking mean! He's kind of a sociopath!! Exactly like Drake!By the way,Drake is another psychopath that I absolutely hate!
I think this starts in Gone to, but all of those scenes when Lana/Dana is at the woods in that little house with the wolves surrounding it were just so uncomfortable! And what is that thing that's living inside of that cave that's calling for her? What is it?
Even though this books has all these strange questions, I think it is to big, I mean, I have no problems with big books as long as they are interesting but this one just moved at a very slow pace and most of the scenes were either boring, weird or uncomfortable.
Anyway, that's just my opinion on this book I've read a really long time ago so if I read it now my opinion might be different, but I've heard good things about and there are people who actually liked this book so if you want to  read go ahead, there's nothing stopping you! And feel free to comment subscribe or follow us here, on goodreads or on instagram! We'd love to hear from you!
Bye! Have a Happy New Year!!

Beautiful Creatures, by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Merry Christmas, everyone! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas, because we did and now I (Alex) want to write a book review! (It's been a while, I know)
Last year, by this exact time, I read this book and I loved it completely! So, after a long time, I decided I should write a review on this one.
What first got my attention was the cover with the black stairs and purple letters. Second it was its name Beautiful Creatures and as soon as I found out it involved magic and fantasy and also mystery, I knew I was going to love it. And I was  right!
This story is about a boy named Ethan who lives in this small town called Gatlin, in South Carolina I think. Ethan hates living there, he hates everything about Gatlin ,how everybody seems to know everything about each others lives and how boring Gatlin is. A while after his mum's death, he starts to dream about a girl and he feels he's connected to her somehow. And then, Ethan meets the fantastic Lena / Hurricane Lena, as Ethan likes to call her. Lena is a Caster, which is some kind of a witch, so she can make things explode, control the weather and lots of other cool stuff. And of course, that's when the real story begins...

As I hate to be spoiled: SPOILER SECTION! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK!

So, in the beginning I was a it apprehensive because I usually don't read books in which the main character is a boy but in this one I fell like there was a connection between me and Ethan, since he's not a complete jerk. I really liked his character and Lena's, specially because of all the magic spells she can do, so I think I can say Lena's one of my favourite characters. I really, really loved Link, he was so funny all the time and so loyal to Ethan that I actually started to love him. And then there's Ridley. Funny story about her name: I actually used to pronounce it like Rydley and just when I saw the film I realised it was pronounced like Reedley :) Anyway, Ridley is just super cool! I love the lollipop thing, it is just so perfect! I know she's one of the "bad guys" but she is just kick ass! Everything about her fits perfectly!
I loved Macon as well, and I did not take his death lightly! I was like: Macon's not dead, he can't be dead, he's not dead!!!! Was I the only one who thought Boo Radley was Macon? 'Cause I thought that. And I felt a little stupid when I realised the truth...
The songs and the visions Ethan was having freaked me out! They were so creepy...! (But in a good way!) I knew they were really important for the story and when I found out about what Genevieve did with Ethan I knew Lena was going to do the same. And she did! But then, the whole fighting scene was just so fantastic, with Macon and Ethan's deaths and with Serafine, that I completely adored it!
Lastly, I loved Ethan's relationship with Amma and with Marion ( and I hated it when they took Marion out of the film!) and enjoyed a lot all of the other characters!!!
Well, I know this probably wasn't one of my best reviews but, give me a break!, I've read this so long ago that I don't remember all the details and I can't be talking about for hours, can I?
Anyway, I loved this book everything about it was great, specially all the fantasy and mystery it had so I highly recommend it!

Something To Cheer You Up

Hi there! It's Lizzy here, and I'm bored to death... So I thought "Why not doing something productive and write a blog post?!" Well, here I am, hoping you have the patience to read this 'till the end... And I'm actually not doing this post randomly, I really hope it can help some of you, if you're having a bad day or you just need to cheer up. Here it goes:

"Sometimes, life can play tricks on you. You wake up one day thinking if it's worth getting up, getting out of bed and face the problems sleep made you forget for a while. A too short while. You wonder if it's worth to take a shower, get dressed and leave home to expose yourself to all the drama and all the people that can do nothing but complain. You lay in bed, just for a few minutes, wondering if it's all worth it. You'll eventually get up and do your whole morning routine, as you always do. And by this time, you feel weak. Tired of everything. Like the ten hours of sleep you just had weren't somehow enough to rest your mind. Because that's just it. Your tiredness hits your mind rather than your body. And people with a tired mind are weak. Aren't they? Well, that's what you think, at least. Now tell me: If you had a weak mind, would you be able to get up in the first place? To make that simple movement of rolling your legs to the side of the bed and get up? Probably not. And once you were standing, would you have the courage to get ready and walk out of the door, put on a smile (even if a small one) and get through the day? You wouldn't. So, it seems like you're not that weak after all, are you? Even after all that you've been through, all the people you had to face (some of them the world would be better of without) you're still here, you're still fighting. Everyday's a new challenge for you, and you can interpret it in a good or in a bad way. Because after all, that's life. A series of challenges, one preparing you to the other, making you a better person. And even if you trip, even if you fall down an amount of times, you will get up. Because that's you. You're not weak. You may have moments of weakness, but that's not the same. An action doesn't define you, the whole set does. And if anyone dares to judge you based on the little they know about you, my advise is for you to laugh at their faces. You know why? Because they're the ones who are weak. Their judgements won't hit you, you're so much stronger than them. Actually, don't laugh at their faces. Just say you feel sorry for them. Because they wish they could be like you.
So, I think we came up with three conclusions. First, days are worth it. You never know what you'll do, who you'll cross with and what experiences you'll live. Second, you're not weak. Never forget this: moments don't define life. And third, if people who can still manage to find something to criticise, they are the ones who are not worth your time.
Never forget this too: Brighter days will come and everything will work out the best way. The only thing you have to do is to put yourself out there and live life with a sexy smile on you face!"

Sorry if that was way too long, but I was feeling inspired... ;)
Bye for now,
Lizzy
