The Sleep Over

Our make up session from yesterday!!We don't know why this picture isn't in the right position but it just didn't want to cooperate with us... Eye Shadow: Evie Mai Cosmetics ; 4 glosses: Claire's ; double gloss: Kiko ; Mascara: Make Up Factory ; Automatic Eyeliner: Make Up Factory ; The two glosses with the flower: Oriflame Beauty ; Face Lotion: Rituals ; Moisturising body lotion: Berkeley Square, London W1

Hi, guys!!!
Today we are going to tell you how our sleep over went. We know this isn't the tipe of posts that we usually do but we just wanted to share it with you because it was really fun!

Lizzy: So, first thing we did was blogging :), then we watched one and a  half episode of "The Vampire Diaries - Season 1". (If you're also a fan let us know!). Next, we decided it was time to get things interesting... and the result was me looking like a clown! Ha ha!!!! I'll explain it to you: We grabbed the things you can see in the picture and did each other's make up. Well, it turned out good for Alex, because she didn't look bad (I was merciful...), however, Alex painted me with bright pink shade in one eye and bright blue shade in the other...

Alex: She looked fantastic!!! I was going to use the eyeliner to paint her face but I started laughing too hard!

Lizzy: Well, I still think I looked like I was preparing for a circus show...

Alex: Anyway, when Lizzy saw her face she decided we could do each other's make up without looking at the mirror, so we sat on the floor of my bathroom and she said we had to record that. And so we did. Or tried to... We first grabbed my camera and started talking to it, explaning what we were going to do and just when we were going to start the challenge, Bum!!, we realised the camera was out of battery... But, cheer up! We still had my iPhone... Kind of... We started filming, Lizzy holding the phone and me whispering to it (it was really late and we couldn't awake my baby sister) and then we started to talk, a lot... So, the phone went out of space!!!

Lizzy: Not giving up, we charged the camera and Alex painted my nails ( :D ), hands with light blue and toes with dark blue.

Alex: While Lizzy's nails were drying, we decided to create an account on Goodreads, which is a website where you can tell what you are reading and rant books, as well as review books and have recommendations based on what you like to read. We thought it was going to be easy and fast... We couldn't have been more wrong!!!

Lizzy: When we started updating our profile, it wouldn't let us save, because something was wrong. We just didn't know what, because the stupid website didn't want to tell us! We tried, tried and tried, we changed our username literally 50 times, and it just didn't accept it! Then, when finally it managed to save, we continued to fill our profile with things like our age and country, and when we thought we had got it, it didn't save again!!! And it even erased everything we had written!!!

Alex: Lizzy gave up but I was having an OCD moment :) so I had to get that right! I changed everything in the profile and tried hundreds of user names until I had a brilliant idea: go back, page by page, 'till we find the page where it saved. And we did! We filled our information all over again (God, we already knew it backwards!) and saving whenever we wrote something and it... finally... SAVED!!! Yeeeyyy!! We promised ourselves to never, ever, change our profile so in 20 years from now, we will still like young adult books :)

Lizzy: We finally decided to go to bed since I was really sleepy, and it was already 2 a.m. and forgot about the make up and the camera. However, we didn't want to sleep righ away, so we talked for about half an hour. On the morning, I wouldn't wake up even if a train got over me, so Alex decided to wake me up in a very gently way... She decided to put the cup song by pitch perfect playing on her phone right next to my ear. Well, it was everything but gently! I literally jumped!!

Alex: But it worked!!! And it was really funny!! Ha Ha!!!

Lizzy: It was funny to her, because I hit with my head on her phone during my jumping and almost had a heart attack!

Alex: After Lizzy recovered from the Cup Song Episode, we went down stairs and my dad opened the pool, so we went swimming for a while with my sister. When we got out, Lizzy painted my sister's nails (she's really vain, like me :) ) and I tried to get a nail polish for my nails as well but I didn't make a choise so my nails are still undone...

So now, here we are, writing this post, because we are humans and we do like to write posts about other things aside from books and films :)
It was extremely fun, and we'll certainly repeat the sleep over ;)
Thank you, we hope you've enjoyed this post.

Don't forget to comment and follow us.

Bye bye,
Alex & Lizzy

P.S.: If you want to laugh a little, well, a lot, write this on Google translator (from English to Portuguese)and listen to it:
bag
pillow
computer
phone
table
mercy
desk
foot
life
glitter
sprinkle
book
night
shade
eyeliner
wallet
purse

This isn't really  Portuguese. We don't know why but the voice reads the letters instead of the words so the result looks a bit like russian :) Tell us if it worked and how hard did you laugh ;)

Ruby Red, by Kerstin Gier

Hi everyone!!!
As promised, today we ( and yes, we :) ) are posting a book review.
We are going to talk about...  * drum roll, please *... the amazing and extraordinary Ruby Red, by the also amazing and extraordinary Kerstin Gier. As she is German, I (Alex) like to pronounce her last name like this: Gierrrrr (like a cat) :)
As you've probably noticed, this is one of our favourite books and of course we are going to talk about it. We are going to fangirl a lot, so don't freak out, please! For quite a while, we've been wanting to do a book review about this one, but we just never had the chance to do it. So here it goes:
This book tells the story of Gwendolyn, a sixteen year-old girl who discovers she can travel through time. Technically, her cousin, Charlotte, was the who was suppose to do so, due to an old family gene that passed from generation to generation. Charlotte's birth date coincided with Newton's ( yes, the Isaac Newton) calculations about the birth date of the Twelfth and last time traveller. However, Gwen's was forged by her parents because they wanted to protect her and make sure she had a normal childhood, so, after all, Gwen was born on the same day as Charlotte. She, on the other hand, had a very demanding childhood. She had to learn hundreds of things about the past, like History, manners, dances, swordplay and a lot more, so she could fit in any age. She was taught in Temple where a secret time travelling agency guarded a Chronograph, which is a machine that controls the time travels. The Chronograph holds a very powerful secret and it will only be revealed when it gathers a blood sample of all the time travellers. Gideon de Villiers is the other time traveller and he has been gathering blood samples since he could travel through time.
Sixteen years ago, before Gwen was born, the Chronograph was stolen by Paul de Villiers and Lucy Montrose, two time travellers who believed the secret shouldn't be revealed, forcing Falk de Villiers, the Great Master of  Temple, to  fix a broken Chronograph left by Gwen's grandfather, the "ex- Great Master".
Gwen and Gideon accidentally fall in love, which is forbidden because the time travellers can't date each other, we have no idea why. They just can't. Maybe they have mentioned why in the book but we honestly don't remember.
We loved everything about this book, literally everything. Gwen is the best main character you could ever ask for! She's funny, she's smart, she's pretty and she's always in a very good mood. Charlotte, on the other hand, is that annoying cousin who's perfect and who thinks she owns the world, so she's cold, mean, altive and egocentric towards everyone except her mother, Lady Arista (her grandmother), Gideon and the people at Temple. Gideon de Villiers is the most gorgeous character in the book! He is handsome but, like Charlotte, he's vain, egocentric and terribly mean around Gwen. But still, he's cute, and no one can deny that! Through the book, he gets a little bit more human and actually ends up being nice to Gwen. Leslie is Gwen's best friend and she's basically the best friend's role model, everyone wants to have a best friend like her! Thankfully, we have that!!! Leslie's really smart and funny and she loves Gwen. She believes in everything she says and helps her anywhere and anytime. We love her :)
And last, but not least we want to introduce you to James Pimplebottom (who has the best last name in the whole world!), and he is actually a ghost who lives at Gwen's school. Gwen can see ghosts, but she doesn't understand why. Nevertheless, she loves James (as a friends, of course). He's very polite and he's always correcting Gwen since he's from the eighteenth century, where manners weren't the same as nowadays, by far. He also has a thing for Charlotte, which is one of the funniest things in the book, considering Charlotte can't see him at all.
Anyway, this post has gone far too big, we're sorry for that but we just got into it and we want you to love it too. Just give it a try, it's a very easy book to read, it's funny, it's fresh, it's lovely and it's wanting for you at the store! So go buy it NOW, before someone gets their hands on it first!!!!
And then of course, leave a comment telling us what you thought about it, if you loved it or not. And don't forget to follow us, we're waiting!!!

Kisses from Alex and Lizzy! :)

See you on our next post ;)

I wanted to write a post so this was what I got :)

Hi, everyone!!
This is Alex (again...) and I am really bored so I thought I could write another post. Lizzy is not with me but she will be tomorrow because she will be spending the night over, which means blogging (yey), make up (yey), films (yey), pictures (yey) and loads and loads of  FUN!!! I am really excited about it, we haven't seen each other for so long!...
Anyway, this post will be slitly different. It'll be just me talking about stuff. And I want to talk about... Subscribers and comments!!!
I've been thinking a lot about this because we aren't getting as much comments and subscribers as we wanted to and that made us feel a bit sad. But, I think I realized that we are new at this, I mean, we began this blog in February and how can we think we are going to get as much reviews and comments as other bloggers who have been blogging for years? It's ridiculous! Honestly, I think it just made us do the posts to get more page views and get comments and subscribers. We got away from what we began doing here: write posts so we could share with people what we thought about books and other things we loved.
Of course we want to have reviews and all of that but why bother so much about it? If we like what we are doing then, well, I think we will keep posting things.
Anyway, sorry if this post was a bit philosophical or boring :D I didn't want to bore you at all :D

Well, I think that's all for now! Thanks and tomorrow there will be more! I promise!!
Hope you guys have enjoyed it!! :D

Bye bye

Into the Wild

Hi,everyone!
This is Alex, Lizzy is on vacations so she can't write. But I am here and I am bored to death, so I decided to make a film review. I know it's our first film review but I've called Lizzy and she doesn't mind.
So, the film that I want to talk about is based on a book (by Jon Krakauer)and it is also a true story, wich means it really happen. It is called Into the Wild and it was directed by Sean Penn. As some of you may know, Sean Penn is a great actor and an amazing director, according to my father. I've seen I am Sam, starring him, Dakota Fanning and Michele Pfeiffer, and it was absolutly amazing. There is no other word to describe it. And when I knew he was directing it, I thought " Well, maybe this film isn't that bad". And I was right!
The film tells the story of a young man called Chris who decides to leave his life behind and begin a new one, away from his family and all the things he knew so well, away from society. So, when he graduates from college, he runs away leaving Christopher McCandless forever. Is goal is to get to Alasca and live there isolated from the world.
He decides to drop his car at a desert near a road and change his name to Alexander Supertramp - wich, I think, is an awesome name. And so, he begins his journey, counting only with his skills and the bag he brought. During those two years that took him to get to Alasca, he meets a lot of great people, who help him getting ready for Alasca.
I know it may not seem great, and that was what I first thought, but when I saw the film... I don't know, I just fell in love with it...
This particular film made me think about hundreds of things. Chris was angry with the society, he tought it was way too materialistic, way too full of lies and he wanted to get away from all of that so he chose to live isolated. There's this one scene where he spends the night in a place were are a lot of storms. When he wakes up after a storm, his car is all damaged so he drops it. And then, he takes out his money, throughs it to the ground and burns it. He burns the money!!! And he was happy with it!! He was so happy!!! And that was when I decided he was nuts!
Althought it had seem like a pretty stupid thing to do, that particular scene messed up with my head and I think it is one o my favorite scenes it the entire film.
Anyway, this is just a really good film that makes you think and rethink about your life and how you see the world. It literally will change your way of seeing things. And if you cry in films then, get ready because you're going to cry A LOT!!!
I hope you'll see and enjoy it and let us now what you thought about by leaving a comment down below.

Bye :D
